(FOX 11/CNS) - A man was wounded today by a plain clothes Los Angeles police officer during a narcotics investigation in Van Nuys and two other men were later arrested in the same area on Sunday.
The OIS happened about 10:50 a.m. behind a motel in the 13500 block of Sherman Way, LAPD Officer Mike Lopez said.
During the narcotics investigation the plain clothes LAPD officers approached three men in the rear of the motel, Lopez said. The OIS then took place.
One man was hit and he was taken to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound, Lopez said. His condition was reported as stable.
Two other men were later detained in the area and a gun was recovered at the scene of the OIS, Lopez said.
The plain clothes officers do not wear body cameras, so there is no video of the OIS available.
There's no word yet about what led up to the OIS or why deadly force was used by the officers.
The shooting was being investigated by the LAPD's Force Investigation Division, the office of LAPD's Inspector General and the Los Angeles County District Attorney's shooting team from its Justice System Integrity Division.
