Street racing suspected in fiery fatal crash

Street racing is suspected in a fiery, fatal crash that happened Sunday evening in Lake Elsinore.

The single-vehicle crash happened around 7:30 p.m. at Railroad Canyon Road and Church Street. The car struck a pole and erupted in flames, according to Riverside County Fire Department.

One person died and a second suffered minor injuries in the crash, authorities said.

Good Samaritans at the scene used axes and a hammer in a heroic effort to save the victims.
