Several injured after bus crashes on Hwy 330 in San Bernardino Mountains

Six people were being treated for severe injuries Monday following the crash of a small tour bus carrying members of a Downey church, Iglesia de Cristo Ministerios Llamada Final.

The bus crashed Sunday afternoon on California 330 in the San Bernardino Mountains north of Highland in San Bernardino County. Nearly two-dozen people -- including the six with serious injuries -- were hurt.

The bus was in a convoy of around a half dozen carrying more than 200 women from an annual retreat in the San Bernardino Mountains, Robert Acosta, the assistant to the senior pastor at the church, told the San Bernardino Sun.

The bus that crashed belongs to the church while the others were rented.

It had 22 passengers onboard, Jeremy Kern of the San Bernardino County Fire Department told the Sun.

The California Highway Patrol's Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the cause of the crash.

"At one point, there was contact between the front of the 2000 El Dorado bus and the rear of a 2013 Nissan Versa before the bus overturned at 2:11 p.m.,'' CHP spokesman Juan Quintero told the newspaper.
