Several Downtown Disney businesses closing to make room for new hotel

- Disneyland is making a major shift. Experts say the theme park is seeking to bring in more visitors from out of town versus focusing on local businesses.

A large part of Downtown Disney will be demolished to make space for a new 700-room hotel that's expected to open in 2021.

The new hotel will include a monorail stop and a new restaurant lounge with a spectacular view of the fireworks.

Meanwhile, some workers in the area have been told they will soon be unemployed.

Closing stores include AMC 12 Theaters, Rainforest Cafe, ESPN Zone, Earl of Sandwich, Alamo rental car and one Starbucks.

Disney is still waiting on final approval from Anaheim, however a partial demolition is expected to begin this summer.

Disney will hold job fairs in April and May.
