SANTA MONICA, CA (FOX 11) - The Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel at Pacific Park debuted a new look Thursday night, featuring a $1 million LED lighting upgrade.
If it's dark out as you're reading this, check out the live webcam feed from the pier, and you'll catch the new display in action! Here's the link: http://www.pacpark.com/the-park/live-cam/the-park/
Throughout the month of May, the wheel went mostly dark as they removed the existing 160,000 lights and installed 174,000 new ones to help make design transitions smoother and more appealing.
“This new system is more energy efficient and the ultimate goal is we’ll be able to make a lot more colors on the Pacific Wheel,” Pacific Park marketing and sales manager Nathan Smithson told KPCC.
