Red Bull Air Force takes to the Los Angeles sky in first-ever downtown L.A. wingsuit jump

Did you catch the streak of light in the sky Wednesday evening? No, a meteor did not come crashing down and it certainly was not an alien invasion.

The spectacle dazzled and confused many onlookers, but it was all part of a wingsuit jump from the Red Bull Air Force, a team comprised of experienced aviation experts.

Officials say the team leaped from a helicopter 4,000 above Los Angeles and swooped into the downtown with at more than 120 mph with wingsuits fitted with LED lights and sparking pyrotechnics.

The jump coincided with the last supermoon of the year and marks the first-ever wingsuit jump into downtown Los Angeles.

The team landed safely on city street below after pulling their parachutes at about 1,000 feet.
