Possible food poisoning sickens 17 in El Segundo; 8 taken to hospitals

(FOX 11/CNS) - Seventeen people fell ill this afternoon at an office complex in El Segundo, possibly due to food poisoning, fire officials said.

Eight of the 17 were taken to hospitals after firefighters responded about 3:45 p.m. to the 2100 block of East Maple Avenue, according to the El Segundo Fire Department.

The patients, who exhibited symptoms consistent with food poisoning, were in stable condition, authorities said.

Police at the scene said patients were vomiting and otherwise visibly ill.
