Pomona woman and her dog found dead at senior retirement community complex

POMONA, Calif. (FOX 11) - Pomona police are investigating a homicide after a woman was found dead along with her dog Monday morning.

Police say officers were called out at a gated seniors-only retirement community complex in 150 block of E. Bonita Avenue just before 6 a.m. for a suspicious death investigation.

A fire alarm on the third floor of Building 1 brought out firefighters who found the woman dead inside her apartment. Her small dog was killed too.

The name of the woman is not being released at this time until the next of kin is notified. She was described as being in her late 50's or early 60's.

Investigators say this was not a random attack. No suspect description was immediately available but that person remains at large with police working on leads in hopes an arrest can be made.
