GARDEN GROVE (CNS / FOX 11) - A 15-year-old gang member on parole was booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly walking up to a passenger in a car Tuesday in Garden Grove and shooting him in the head and back.
The shooting victim, a 42-year-old man, is expected to survive his gunshot wounds, according to Garden Grove police Lt. Bob Bogue.
About 3:15 p.m., the man was a passenger in a vehicle with his girlfriend, the driver and his 16-year-old daughter stopped in traffic in the 9400 block of Westminster Avenue when, for unknown reasons, a confrontation started with him and the alleged 15-year-old gunman, Bogue said.
"The suspect then walked over to the victim and shot several gunshot rounds at the victim," Bogue said. "The suspect was positively identified as the shooter and was arrested. The small caliber handgun was recovered."
The woman behind the wheel tried to drive the victim to a hospital, but dispatchers asked her to pull over so paramedics could catch up and administer aid, Bogue said. The victim was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange.
