Police seek Van Nuys burglar caught ransacking home on video

- Police sought the public's help Thursday in identifying a suspect caught on surveillance cam in a Van Nuys burglary.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on July 6 at a residence in the 15300 block of Leadwell Street. The suspect is seen on surveillance video breaking into the residence by removing a front window screen and then breaking
the window, according to detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Van Nuys Division.

The suspect ransacked the location but did not take any property, detectives said. The man took off in a car driven by a second suspect.

Detectives described the burglary suspect as a black male, around 25 to 30 years old, standing around 5-feet-10 inches tall and weighing about 170 to 180 pounds. He was seen wearing a white or gray button-up shirt with an unknown patch on the sleeve, dark pants and brown shoes.

Detectives said the suspect also had tattoos on both hands, a tattoo of an angel on the right side of his neck, tattoos on the left side of his neck, and a tattoo of an unknown symbol behind his right ear.

There is no description for the second suspect but the vehicle the pair left in is described as a mini-van of an unknown year, make and model, detectives said.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Van Nuys Burglary Detective Diamond at (818) 374-0029.
