Police search for suspect in Griffith Observatory car burglaries

The search is on for a man Los Angeles Police say is part of a group breaking into cars at Griffith Park.
Police believe the burglary crew may travel from Northern California to commit crimes here in L.A.

The latest incident happening just two weeks ago. Police say the men vandalized and burglarized vehicles but one of them wasn't able to get away without a witness taking his picture.

Los Angeles Police want you to take a good look at the picture of the man.

They say he and and three others were breaking into vehicles and on the weekend of June 24, as they attempted tried to leave the scene, they were also involved in a hit and run.

Park Rangers say they've had the most problems with cars parked along Western Canyon Road. They say the burglars will watch you leave your car and then smash your window and take what's inside your vehicle

"That's a terrible thing people are coming out here I guess to enjoy and have some fun. You gotta guy, now I'm worried about if my car is going to be there or if it will be vandalized," said Kendrick Johson who was visiting the park Wednesday.

Visitors say they did feel a sense of security here because there are so many people around. Derrick Brown wad even taking time to make sure his valuables are out of sight.

"I feel a little worried now but it's kinda busy right now so I feel a little safe but stuff happens so you gotta be aware at all times."

He and others now know they could be targets.

"You can't control what's going to happen, I mean we have some Looney tunes that's about it but you can't stop living and you can't stop doing what you enjoy doing." said Faith Feliciano

Detectives believe that the suspects are responsible for other crimes throughout California, and possibly travel from the San Francisco area to commit crimes.
