A man was shot and killed Tuesday in Long Beach, police said.

The shooting was reported at 2:10 a.m. in the 600 block of West Ninth Street, according to Lt. Erik Herzog of the Long Beach Police Department.

Responding officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, Herzog said. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
