One man stabbed, two pistol-whipped in Whittier car assault

One man was stabbed in the arm and two others were pistol-whipped when four people inside a car were attacked by four suspects in unincorporated Whittier, authorities said Tuesday.

The attack reportedly happened near the 11000 block of Painter Avenue at about 9 p.m., said Lt. Cynthia Chavez of the Norwalk Sheriff's Station. "The four victims were inside a vehicle outside a residence when they were approached by two vehicles,'' Chavez said. "Four suspects got out. One broke the driver's window and stabbed him in the arm.''

A passenger window was rolled down and another suspect pistol-whipped the front and rear passengers, she said. The suspect pointed the gun at the female passenger.

The driver of the victims' vehicle accelerated to get away from the attackers and crashed into one of their vehicles, Chavez said. The victims went a short distance to the 11000 block of Painter Avenue where authorities were
called.

The suspects got away, she said. The victims were taken to a hospital.

The pistol-whipping victims suffered minor injuries and the man stabbed in the arm had stable vital signs.
