New details emerging about Las Vegas shooter's past & SoCal connections

Early Monday morning Peggy Paddock would only open the door for sheriff's deputies at her Cerritos home.

The ex-wife of the Las Vegas shooter didn't want to answer any questions from the media about Stephen Paddock, but neighbors said she sent out an email to friends and family telling them she had former ties to him.

Authorities said Peggy Paddock, who was married to Stephen Paddock for 6 years and has been divorced for 27 years, is not under any investigation.

Las Vegas police and other investigators have only contacted her as they try to piece together a motive for the shooting, which shocked Paddock's own brother.

"We have absolutely no idea whatsoever, we have no idea why he did this," Eric Paddock, the suspect's brother, said outside his Orlando Florida home.

The last contact the two had was about a month ago.

Eric Paddock described his brother as a regular guy who lived in a home in Mesquite Nevada with his girlfriend.

Mesquite is about an hour outside Las Vegas, where the shooter's brother said the 64-year-old retiree often drove to gamble.

Sources told FOX news the gunman had more than a dozen weapons - some of converted, fully automatic assault rifles that he used to fire on concert goers from his Mandalay Bay Hotel room.

"Where the hell did he get automatic weapons?" Eric Paddock questioned. "He has no military background or anything like that."

Law enforcement said Stephen Paddock was not on their radar and he acted alone in the attack with no ties to international terrorism.

While investigators try to dig into Paddock's background, more is surfacing about his past.

Paddock was the son of a bank robber who the FBI described as "psychopathic" and was on the agency's most wanted list in the 1970's, according to the Washington Post.

Paddock spent part of his childhood in Southern California where he graduated in 1971 from Francis Polytech High School in Sun Valley, according to the LA Unified School District.

His brother later told reporters Paddock was a multimillionaire who made money investing in real estate and worked as an accountant.
