1 man killed, 1 injured in unrelated shootings in South LA

Police are investigating two unrelated shootings in a five-hour period Saturday morning in South Los Angeles, including one that proved fatal.

A man about 25 years old was shot just after 4:30 a.m. in the area of Hoover and 90th streets where police found the man unconscious and not breathing, according to Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

A private party took the victim to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

There were three other crime scenes related to that shooting, Eisenman said. One scene was at 88th and Hoover streets, and two were around 90th Street and Vermont Avenue.

The second unrelated shooting happened slightly after 9:40 a.m. near 111th Street and Broadway. Officers found a victim possibly suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, Eisenman said.

Paramedics took that victim to a hospital, where he was last reported in critical condition.
