5 evacuated in hillside collapse at home under construction in Hollywood Hills

A mudslide was reported Thursday morning at a home under construction in the Hollywood Hills, fire officials said.

The hillside collapse was reported around 10:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of North Stanley Avenue in the Nichols Canyon area of the Hollywood Hills, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Authorities said five constructoin workers were evacuated as a precaution, as well as some homes above and below the mudslide.

No injuries were immediately reported.

Authorities said Nichols Canyon Road was closed between Hollywood Boulevard and Willow Glen Road.

The latest in a series of Pacific Ocean storms arrived Thursday in Southern California, bringing more rain to the area and prompting officials to put many communities on alert for mudslides and flooding.

In Malibu, a boulder crashed into a car, injuring the driver.
