Mother concerned over gun used to threaten her son at school

A mother is angry and frightened over another child who brought a gun to her son's elementary school in South LA.

And that mother says the principal is refusing to do anything about it.

She claims it happened on school property with a sign clearly marked 'No Weapons' inside of a classroom at the 95th Elementary School in South LA.

Esmeralda Nava reports the threat to the school principal and police get involved.

Police confirm the other fifth grader did have a BB gun, but they are not telling Esmeralda if that other student was disciplined.

FOX 11 news contacted the LAUSD about these troubling allegations.

Prompting the school district to release this statement:

"The district takes all matters about school safety very seriously. While all student matters are confidential, our administrators follow up diligently on any concern raised by a student, parent/guardian or employee. We also take appropriate actions as necessary in accordance with district policies to ensure all students have access to a safe learning environment."

Nava's 10-year-old son hasn't returned to the school since the incident happened.
