POMONA, Calif. (FOX 11) - I am going to be joining the American Brain Tumor Association on Saturday, April 9 for the Breakthrough for Brain Tumors 5K Run/Walk or BT5K.
I’ll be there with my team (Seven Samurai) at 8:15. We all met through the UCLA Brain Cancer Caregivers Support Group. All seven of us cared for and saw our spouses pass away in 2015 beginning in January with Linda’s husband… with my husband Sean passing away in December. We have all become very close and are turning our grief into something positive by getting together and helping to raise money to find a cure for this devastating disease.
The American Brain Tumor Association’s BT5K Run/Walk events unite brain tumor patients and families, survivors, advocates in communities across the country to raise awareness and critical funding for brain tumor research. This is the fourth year the BT5K has been held in Los Angeles, and we’re expecting nearly a thousand participants.
We invite everyone to join us, walkers and runners, on April 9 for the BT5K Los Angeles Run/Walk at the Pomona Fairplex at 8 a.m. You can register online at hope.abta.org/losangeles2016 or onsite at the Pomana Fairplex starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 9.
BT5K Run/Walks raise funds for vital brain tumor research and comprehensive services for all brain tumor types and all age groups.
The American Brain Tumor Association is hosting BT5K events in eight states. This year, more than 11,000 people are expected to participate in support of those diagnosed with a brain tumor.
