Man shot in car-to-car shooting in South LA

A man was shot and wounded in a car-to-car shooting that ended in a pursuit and crash Tuesday morning in South Los Angeles.

Police have taken one suspect into custody but are searching for the suspected shooter.

Officers heard shots being fired at 1 a.m. in the area of Central Avenue and 28th Street at the scene of a reported collision that sheared a fire hydrant.

Arriving officers found a man in his 20s with a gunshot wound to one of his shoulders, according to the Los Angeles Police Department's Newton Division.

The other driver is suspected of shooting the victim before fleeing.

The victim was taken to a hospital for an injury that was deemed not to be life-threatening, police said.

It was believed the suspect and the victim knew each other and have had issues in the past with one another, police said, but the motive for the shooting was not known.
