Man poured boiling water on dog at least 5 times, cops say

A man from Chino Hills was arrested after authorities say he poured boiling hot water on a caged dog at least five times.

According to Chino Hills police, 22-year-old Enping Qu poured the scalding water on his girlfriend's dog on Tuesday.

Police say a witness reported Qu, telling police he could hear the dog yelping in pain and that he saw the suspect pour the water on the dog at least five times and he had captured the incident on video.

Qu was arrested on suspicion of felony animal cruelty and the dog was taken to a local veterinarian.

The Chino Hills police captain tweeted a photo of the dog Thursday writing, "Many people expressing a desire to adopt "Sophie," the puppy abused by its owner. #HumanityPrevails."

The video of the incident is not being immediately released due to the ongoing investigation.
