Man killed during motorhome crash into Sylmar house

- The driver of a motorhome was killed when it crashed into the side of a house in Sylmar, authorities said Friday.

The crash occurred at 11:39 p.m. Thursday at 13697 N. Borden Ave., the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

The driver was James Digaetano, 52, the Los Angeles County coroner's office said.

Police said Digaetano was traveling west on Roxford Street with his dog when he veered off the road and crashed into the side of the North Borden residence. Digaetano was pronounced dead at the scene. The dog was unharmed,

The two residents inside of the home at the time of the crash were uninjured but still checked out by medical personnel nonetheless, said Officer Matthew Kim of the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.
