Man killed, another wounded in CHP officer-involved shooting

Two suspects were shot by California Highway Patrol officers in Fullerton, and one of them was killed, authorities said Monday.

The shooting took place about 10:50 p.m. Sunday at Pritchard and Commonwealth avenues near the Fullerton Municipal Airport, said CHP Officer Alex Rubio. Two officers were involved in the shooting and two suspects were
hit, added CHP Capt. David Moeller in a telephone interview from the scene.

"We were following some people," Moeller said of the events leading up to the shooting.

The Orange County coroner's office confirmed this morning that one male died at the scene of the shooting. News video showed the other suspect being prepared for hospital transport in an ambulance.

Fullerton police, the Orange County District Attorney and the CHP were investigating the shooting, said Fullerton police Sgt. John Ema.
