Man fires shots, barricades himself in South LA apartment

A man barricaded himself inside his apartment in South Los Angeles Tuesday and police officers are using a bullhorn to try to talk him out.

Los Angeles police were called to the scene near West 42nd Street and Walton Avenue around 2:30 a.m. after getting reports of a shooting, according to LAPD Media Relations.

The man's family was able to escape the home, CBS2 reported.

Several streets in the area were blocked off as police worked to resolve the situation.

Los Angeles School's Police have been notified about the incident, which is taking place near Manual Arts High School.
