Magnitude 3.3 earthquake strikes Malibu

Pricey coastal real estate escaped damage -- and some celebrities may have been jostled awake -- as a magnitude 3.3 earthquake struck Malibu before dawn on Sunday.

The quake's epicenter was about 4 miles north of Latigo Point, up Escondido Canyon in a sparsely-populated section of the Santa Monica Mountains.

The nearest homes to the epicenter were along Latigo Canyon Road. No damage was reported.

Persons reported feeling the quake along the Santa Monica Bay coast, and as far west as Ventura County.
