Los Angeles man wanted in killing of pregnant girlfriend added to FBI's Ten Most Wanted

A convicted felon was added Thursday to the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list in connection to the murder of his pregnant girlfriend and unborn child last month, authorities said.

Philip Patrick Policarpio, 39, is wanted for the April 12 murder during a gathering with friends in the 500 block of N. Virgil Avenue in the East Hollywood area. Policarpio got into an argument with his girlfriend who was 17 weeks pregnant at the time, the FBI said.

He began to beat her with his fists, then pulled a gun and shot her in the head, killing her instantly. It was "in front of everyone," according to Special Agent Scott Garriola, a member of the FBI's Los Angeles Fugitives Task Force.

At the time of the killing, Policarpio was on parole for a conviction in 2001, the FBI said.

Policarpio is a known drug user and has been on the run since the murder, authorities said. He may have traveled to Las Vegas or possibly the Philippines, where he has family ties.

"His pattern is one of violence and he is always armed," said Garriola. "He is the definition of a continuing threat to the community."

Authorities said Policarpio should be considered "armed and extremely dangerous."

There is a reward of up to $100,000 being offered in the case.

Anyone with information about Policarpio was asked to contact their local FBI office, the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate or submit a tip online.
