Local shoppers have Munich attack on their minds

The terrorist attack in Munich happened at a shopping center so, it's not surprising that shoppers in busy places like Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade might have had the violence that was a-world-away in Germany on their minds here in Southern California.

Reactions ranged from "Oh My God," to "it's horrible".

Some, like Mila Taylor, admitted to feeling ill-at-ease. "I think it makes me a bit nervous," she said, but, "...you can't let it make you stop living your life. I think if you stop living your life then they win."

Brad Raboyn said he wasn't bothered. Why? Said the Santa Monica shopper, "I think because this is in a shopping area in a different country. I'd like to think here things would be different."

UCLA History Professor James Gelvin weighed in on the shooting saying, "It was a horrible thing. Its part of a string of these attacks that seem to be accelerating at this point." He calls it a way to keep ISIS's name "up in lights."

Meanwhile, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti tweeted, "Horrified by the violence in #Munich, praying for victims & families. Hopeful that the killers are brought to justice soon."
