Lilac Fire has burned 4,100 acres, 60 percent contained, all evacuations lifted

FALLBROOK, CA (FOX 11 / AP) - A dangerous fast-moving brush fire burning in northern San Diego County on Thursday scorched 4,100 acres, destroying several homes and at least 23,000 people have been evacuated.

All evacuations have been lifted and the fire is sixty percent contained.

Fire officials said the Lilac Fire erupted shortly after 11 a.m. amid gusty weather just west of Interstate 15 and north of Lilac Road in Pala Mesa near the Fallbrook area.

By 5 p.m., the fire scorched 2,500 acres with 0 containment.

San Diego emergency officials said more than 23,000 people were evacuated. Among the evacuation areas were a mobile home park, Bonsall High School, Sullivan Middle School, the Rancho Monserate Country Club and all neighborhoods along West Lilac Road.

New evacuation orders: South of Renche Rd., West of I-15 Freeway, East of Green Canyon Rd. & S. Mission Rd., North of Hwy 76

Evacuation Warnings are in effect: North of Pala Rd. South of Reche Rd. West of I-15 Freeway East of Green Canyon Rd. & W. Mission Rd.

Evacuation centers have been set up at:
Fallbrook High School, and Pala Casino

East Valley Community Center located at 2245 E. Valley Parkway, Escondidio & Stagecoach Community Park located at 3420 Camino De Los Coches, Carlsbad.

Road Closures:

Old Hwy 395 between W. Lilac Rd. & Hwy 76 in both directions.

Three people have sustained burn injuries and one person has been injured due to smoke inhalation.
