LA's Most Wanted: Murder of Richard Backner

Richard Backner was murdered on January 27, 2013 at about 7:30 p.m.

He was only 23-years-old.

Backner knew people who were involved in street gangs -- it was inevitable in the area where he lived -- but Richard was not really involved and certainly not in a way that would make him a target for someone from a rival gang.

Despite that, Richard was enjoying a cigarette outside the apartment building at 49th Street and Normandie Avenue when he was murdered by two young men.

Anyone with information about Backner's murder is urged to call Detective Ty Labbe at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau: 323-890-5500.

Anonymous calls are welcomed at Crime Stoppers: 800-222-TIPS. To send a tip as a text message, type the letters TIPLA into the body of a text message and send it to CRIMES (27446370).
