No evidence of shooting at LA Valley College after reports, police say

Multiple reports of gunshots heard on the campus of Los Angeles Valley College on Wednesday night triggered a massive police presence on the ground.

"A lot of constant shots being made over 20, it went on for a minute or two," neighbor Jenny Stang said she heard from her nearby apartment.

Police locked down the campus as scared students barricaded themselves in their classrooms.

"There was a guy in there that was from the army in our class, he was an amazing guy he barricaded the whole thing," student Gaby Montano said. "He told us what to do, he told us to get down under our chairs and we shut the lights off and everything,"

Los Angeles police and the Sheriff's Department swept the entire campus looking for evidence.

The shots were reported coming from the southwest part of the campus, but a search of the campus didn't find anything that indicated there was a shooting.

"We've heard everything from ten gunshots to twenty gunshots and that really is the issue here because there are so many different reports we're not going to take any chances," Josh Rubenstein, LAPD Chief Public Information Officer, said.

Worried parents arrived to campus waiting to reunite with their students.

Police went classroom to classroom evacuating each building when it was safe for students to leave.

"We heard them calling this is the police the teacher opened the door and then they were evacuating people out," student, Fiorello Salinas, said.

Police gave the all clear around 9 p.m.
