LAFD battle commercial fire in South L.A.

A greater-alarm fire tore through a boarded-up strip mall Tuesday night in South Los Angeles, collapsing two walls while forcing crews to battle the flames from outside the structure.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, which was reported about 8:05 p.m. in the 8400 block of South Vermont Avenue, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Sixty-nine firefighters responded and knocked down the fire in 1 hour and 18 minutes, she said.
