Vikki Salmela says she is convinced that price-gouging by rental-home-landlords has kept her from finding a home to relocate to during the natural gas crisis in Porter Ranch. She talks about how she has tried to find homes that normally would be $3000 or $3500 a month now being offered at as much as $12,000.
Salmela, who has been suffering from respiratory issues she blames on the leaked gas in the air, says she wants to move her in-home art studio, her dog Joey and herself, but money is an issue.
Tuesday, the LA County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to ask County Counsel and the County’s Department of Consumer Affairs to join with the City of LA to review and investigate landlord price gouging.
Meanwhile, Southern California Gas Company’s Mike Mizrahi says he’ll find the right people to try and help Salmela.
