LA County Supervisor shows off mobile spay and neuter clinic for pets

LA CRESCENTA (CNS / FOX 11) - Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich showed off a mobile spay and neuter clinic for dogs and cats Wednesday, the result of a county partnership with a private nonprofit organization.

"Continuing to provide spaying and neutering for our pets in Los Angeles County remains a high priority and a critical strategy to reduce the number of unwanted pets entering county animal shelters," Antonovich said. "This public-private partnership will improve access to these vital services."

The mobile clinic run by the Coalition for Pets and Public Safety offers free spay and neuter services for pets owned by low-income residents. It also offers low-cost vaccines and microchips for spayed and neutered pets.

Dogs in unincorporated areas of the county are required by law to be neutered or spayed. The Department of Animal Care and Control is forced to euthanize thousands of unwanted cats and dogs each year.
