In a statement, LAX saying it's working hard to improve, saying:

"In addition to a $14-billion investment in infrastructure and facilities, which is the largest public works project in the history of California, Los Angeles World Airports is also investing in its people and services."

One example came Thursday when LAX unveiled a passport control app for certain travelers to go through customs quicker.

Those types of apps could help boost LAX's ranking.
