Huntington Beach woman about to be evicted barricades self in hours-long standoff with deputies

A 64-year-old Orange County woman was taken into custody after barricading herself in an hours-long standoff with deputies on Tuesday.

The incident began at about 10 a.m. when deputies from the Civil Bureau were serving a final eviction notice at the woman's home in the 16000 block of Bimini Lane in Huntington Beach, according to authorities. That's when the woman, who was not immediately identified, answered the door and then threatened deputies with a weapon and refused to leave, the Orange County Sheriff's Department said.

The woman barricaded herself inside the home and refused to obey the deputies' commands. SWAT, a bomb squad, K-9 units, and a Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the scene along with the Huntington Beach Fire Department.

Authorities say the woman had access to multiple weapons, but at about 3:15 p.m., the Sheriff's Office obtained a warrant and entered the home. The woman was taken into custody.

The Sheriff's Office says the 64-year-old will be looked over at the hospital before being booked into jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
