Hopes dashed after new search for Beau Heller's remains turns up nothing

For Alan and Claudia Heller the last 13 years have been hell! And this day was just another on the miserable rollercoaster ride these folks say no parent should have to go through.

In 2005, the Heller's son Beau, went missing. His parents called him "charming... captain of the football team... captain of the swim team... captain of the wrestling team and well liked."

Over time, detectives talked with 20 to 30 witnesses in the search for the then-29-year old and, according to Detective Louie Aguilera, "all corroborate the same thing. He was killed the night he disappeared and buried somewhere in this river bed."

Back in 2014 this case was highlighted on FOX 11 on LA's Most Wanted:

The San Gabriel River bed filled with brush and, in the last 13 years affected by fire and rising water.

They do have suspects though they won't say, yet, who they are. Aguilera says, "We have two people in mind we're looking into. We're still interviewing more witnesses and its not necessary that we recover a body."

But, it's necessary for the Hellers. What makes it frustrating is that leads vanish as quickly as their son did. Says Mr. Heller, "First story was his body was in the gravel pit over there. That was the search area. Then another rumor was he was buried up in one of these canyons and then its been in the river bed a couple of times."

"We really would like to find his remains," adds Mrs. Heller.

On that Hellers brother said, "I don't think we ever suspected trouble coming his way because he was somebody who would always find his way out of whatever mess he was in… we know he wasn't hanging out with the crowd he was typically hanging out with."

Detectives say over the last couple of years interviews led them to the river bed area of Duarte. They came out before, but never had enough dogs, now they brought out more dogs to sniff around, but still no luck."

The day ended with nothing being found. Another disappointment for Alan and Claudia Heller.
