Hit-and-run driver arrested in deadly Sun Valley crash

He thought he had out-smarted the law when he took of after committing a crime.

Tonight, a man wanted in the fatal hit-and-run crash in Sun Valley has been arrested and charged.

It was a horrific crash at 3:30 in the morning that woke up those living nearby this past Thursday, June 7th.

According to police, a speeding car, a stolen Nissan lost control, slammed into two parked cars and
then a light pole on Sherman Way in Sun Valley.

The impact, Raquel Benadda said 'sounded like an explosion' She called 911.

The driver, incredibly, survived.

Two passengers were with him, one ejected from the car, dead, the other, critical, fighting for her life.

That driver, a 'known gang member who's a danger to the community' according to police, disappeared.

He's been on the run for days now, but when they went public with his photo and his name, Oscar Lopez, in an appeal for someone to turn him in, that's just what happened.

His own family, police tell me, watched the news, and then called them.They struggled with Lopez to hold him until officers arrived to take him into custody. He'll be checked out at the hospital with scrapes and bruises then booked on felony hit and run charges, for starters.
