Costa Mesa McDonalds latest target in string of fast food restaurant robberies

McDonalds customers disturbed to see the Bristol Street restaurant near Costa Mesa mall closed, after police say an armed man rushed in Tuesday afternoon in broad daylight, slipping a female cashier a note demanding money, and then stealing cash she handed over from a register.

It appears to be a growing pattern in Orange County… fast food restaurants robbed by an armed suspect.

On Monday night, a suspect also entered this Santa Ana Jack in the Box, taking an unknown amount of cash.

That robbery....marking the third time a fast food robbery took place on Harbor Boulevard in the last week.

And Huntington Beach police say that a robbery suspect rushed into this Beach Blvd Chipotle Monday night too, holding up employees, stealing over $600 in cash.

Police there believe the same man may be behind many other recent crimes -- more than a dozen across Orange County.

Authorities are also looking at surveillance footage from a Garden Grove Subway last Thursday, showing the suspect fitting a similar description

Same goes for the surveillance video from a Westminster Subway on July 13, when the suspect dressed in dark colors, held up employees, before stealing cash from the register, taking off on foot.

Customers of the fast food chains, saying enough is enough.

Anybody with additional information regarding the robbery incident should contact the Costa Mesa Police Detective Bureau at 714-754-5637.
