Gunfire kills 2 men in Compton, police say

Two men were shot to death Monday in Compton, authorities said.

The shooting was reported at 12:18 a.m. at a mobile home park in the 1900 block of West 156th Street, said Deputy Kelvin Moody of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

Both men suffered wounds to their upper body, Moody said. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A suspect was seen running westbound through the mobile home park, he said.

"One of the victims is a documented local street gang member and the shooting appears to be gang-related,'' Moody said.

Sheriff's homicide detectives were investigating, he said.
