Former LAPD officer who detained Django Unchained actress under fire again

Retired LAPD Sgt. Jim Parker is under fire again. "The department is upset that I overstepped them and went over their heads but yes I did," said Parker.

Last year in September, Parker detained Django Unchained actress Danielle Watts after responding to reports of her and her boyfriend having sex in a parked car.

Watts claimed she was targeted because she was black.

Parker was vindicated after he released a recording of the encounter.

Watts and her boyfriend were ordered to write an apology letter to the police officers and the people who reported them.

Parker was told to attend a disciplinary hearing - some believe that was in an effort to let him go. Parker retired a short time later.

City ethics officials recently said Parker broke two rules by releasing confidential information to create a private advantage for himself, according to the L.A. Times.

"Here's what really gets me. I've retired. I've been retired for 3 and a half months now. And the city has more problems than me. The murder rate has gone up -- way high compared to what it's been recently. There's your problem - not me," said Parker.

The Times says the city ethics committee plans to announce the specific accusations early November.

Parker will then be allowed to give his side of the story so officials can piece together if he broke any city ethics rules.

"Here's the thing too, and I've said this before. I've never received any payment from any organization or any media outlet," said Parker.

Parker faces a fine of up to 10 thousand dollars but says he has no regrets for releasing the audio.

"And I hope they do when it takes as long as it does for something that is so volatile like I had. You have to remember that they sat on my recordings for over 2 days. The two accused were all over CNN, all over other media outlets," says Parker.

The police union and the city ethics committee did not return our request for an interview.
