Several LAX flights canceled Monday as storm closes Houston airports

A number of flights from Texas to Los Angeles International Airport were cancelled Monday because of the wet weather plaguing the Lone Star state.

Tropical Storm Harvey was impeding operations at William P. Hobby Airport, George Bush Intercontinental Airport, San Antonio International Airport and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, said LAX Airport spokesman Frederick Badlissi.

He said that as of this morning, 20 flights from Texas to LAX were cancelled, as were 18 flights from LAX to Texas.

"We are still determining the effect of Harvey on LAX operations, and these numbers are preliminary," he said around 8 a.m.
