Five young men who allegedly went on a burglary spree at the Apple store at the Fashion Island mall were behind bars Wednesday, but several others remain at large.

Police were sent to the shopping center at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on a report that about eight thieves entered the store in the 1100 block of Newport Center Drive and took about 38 iPhones, valued at $32,000, according to Jennifer Manzella of the Newport Beach Police Department.

The suspects fled in two cars, a gray Dodge Challenger and a black Mercedes-Benz, Manzella said.

Authorities tracked down the Dodge with help from the California Highway Patrol and police in Westminster and Huntington Beach, Manzella said. The Dodge was stopped in Westminster near Willow Lane and Westminster Boulevard, Manzella said, and the five occupants were taken into custody and stolen items recovered, she said.

They were identified as:

--Deavon Justice Guillory, 20, of Long Beach;
--Kenyae Emil Buyard, 18, of Compton;
--Dejon Amere Sanders, 20, of Los Angeles;
--Kovey Le James, 18, of Los Angeles; and
--Hysanii Kiesean Rice, 18, of Los Angeles.
