LOS ANGELES (CNS / FOX 11) - Firefighters are battling a brush fire in the Baldwin Hills area of Los Angeles.
The fire was reported at about 6 p.m. in the 5000 block of West Coliseum Street. Initial reports mentioned a quarter-acre of hillside grass burning toward some light brush. But firefighters found more spot fires when they arrived, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The fire was upgraded to a full brush fire and a water-dropping helicopter was called in.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department also responded to assist the city's fire department.
The fire is burning uphill toward Mantova Drive and Punta Alta Drive on the north side of the Kenneth Hahn State Recreational Area.
Traffic is closed on South La Brea Avenue south of Coliseum Street.
