Fire rips through 3-story apartment building in Stevenson Ranch

Firefighters battled a three-alarm blaze Friday morning at a three-story apartment building in Stevenson Ranch, prompting evacuations, authorities said.

The flames were reported to be coming from a third-floor balcony at 1:05 a.m. in the 24900 block of Constitution Avenue, a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher said.

No injuries were reported but at least 26 residents were displaced, the dispatcher said.

The flames ripped through the building, damaging 20 apartments. About 100 firefighters knocked the flames down just before 5 a.m., he said.
