Fire damages strip mall in Compton

A fire damaged a strip mall Wednesday in Compton, but no one was hurt, authorities said.

The fire was reported about 4 a.m. in a coin laundry at Alondra Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue, a Compton fire dispatcher said. The flames were extinguished about 4:50 a.m., the dispatcher said.

Investigators were seeking the cause of the fire, which also damaged a barber shop and a liquor store, according to reports from the scene.
