Fire breaks out at Sun Valley junkyard involving several vehicles

A fire at a Sun Valley junkyard sent a huge plume of black smoke over the San Fernando Valley on Sunday, but no injuries were reported.

About 100 firefighters poured water on the fire, which was reported about 3:50 p.m. in the 9100 block of North Tujunga Avenue, according to Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Over a dozen autos were on fire and firefighters were in a defensive mode, fighting the flames from the perimeter with large hose streams, Scott said.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or threats to structures, Scott said.
