Facebook asks California users if they are registered to vote

- Facebook is hoping to get its users in California to register to vote before its too late.

Many California Facebook users have seen a banner at the top of their news feeds reminding them that they need to register to vote if they haven't already.

The banner gives the option to share with followers that you've registered or it gives an option to register now.

The deadline to register to vote in California's June 7 primary is Monday, May 23.

You can register to vote online here. You need your date of birth, the last four digits of your social security number and your California driver license or California identification card number in order to register.

Facebook has shown the banner to users for 24 hours in states where people are required to register to vote in advance. Other states have included South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas.
