Elon Musk shares first photo of underground tunnel in LA

Elon Musk has shared the first photo of the underground tunnel he hopes will improve traffic and transportation in Los Angeles.

The Tesla founder shared the photo on Instagram on Sunday writing, "The Boring Company tunnel under LA."

The tunnel is currently 500-feet long and extends from Musk's Hawthorne-based SpaceX headquarters. But according to a tweet, Musk says he plans for the tunnel to be 2 miles long in 3-4 months and hopefully stretch the whole 405 N-S corridor from LAX to the 101 in a year or so.

The Hawthorne City Council approved the tunnel construction in August with a 4-1 vote.

More information on the tunnel can be found here.
