Witnesses help police track down suspect in fatal Riverside hit-and-run

Riverside police say a 19-year-old woman was killed in an early morning hit-and-run and the suspected driver is now in custody.

The crash happened just before 6 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Tyler Street in Riverside.

Authorities say the 19-year-old was driving a Nissan when she entered an intersection and was hit by a white van traveling south on Tyler street.

Police say it appears the van did not stop at a red light.

The Nissan collided with an electrical pole and the teen driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her name has not yet been released.

A witness tells police the van continued driving south on Tyler street after the collision.
