Seven-thousand high school girls were guests of honor at the premiere of a documentary today.

"He Named Me Malala" is about a Pakistan girl who survived after being shot in the head by the Taliban because of her outspoken support of a girl's right to education.

"He Named Me Malala" by academy award winning director, Davis Guggenheim, was shown today as part of the "Girls Build LA Challenge," -- a program to help teenaged girls reach their academic, cultural and personal goals.

Guggenheim appeared on Good Day LA this morning and explained what inspired him to make this documentary

"He Named Me Malala" has a limited run at the Landmark Theater in West La through this weekend.

Then it opens nationwide next Friday.
