Detectives searching for suspect who slashed gas station employee in face, abdomen

At first it's a quiet uneventful Saturday morning. The suspect entered the Mobil gas station on Sepulveda boulevard in Carson, bought something and then he asked the clerk, 53-year-old and mother of six Darlecia D'Andrade, if he could use the restroom. He went in but then oddly walked out seconds later asking a bizarre demand - that dandrade fix the toilet.

What you don't see according to police is when the man slashed her face open and then her stomach.

The suspect runs out of the gas station and entered a red, 4-door sedan. He was last seen driving away south on Vermont Avenue.

The slasher is described as a male Hispanic, approximately 20 years old, dark hair, 5-11, between 160 170 pounds, wearing a black and green hat, red t-shirt, and black pants.

D'Andrade was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released. Police say she never met the man before and there was no known motive.

If you recognize the man or know anything about the crime, call police.
